Here are some tips from Foodvisor’s dietitian, Amelie, which will help you get your diet off to a good start.

1. Have realistic goals

Don’t have overly ambitious goals or you’ll risk losing your motivation!

Diets that promise rapid weight loss are very dangerous for your health and especially ineffective because weight loss needs to be regulated.

Keep in mind that even if rapid weight-loss is appealing, speed should be the least of your concerns. A balanced diet will yield slower weight loss but it will be sustainable weight-loss. It’s important to learn how to eat for your health.

2. Foods to avoid

Before starting your diet, stockpile your fridge with healthy foods. That is to say:

Avoid all fatty and sweet foods such as chips, cakes, sweets, doughnuts, pastries, sausages, pizzas and other delicious enemies.

3. What to eat

Combining the right food items within a meal is therefore essential to control both hunger and urges.

Filling your fridge with the healthy foods will help you resist temptation allowing you to avoid foods that are harmful to your health. Especially in the evening when you are tired of your day and just want a quick and easy meal.

When choosing food items, pay special attention to the food quality. Some foods provide more micronutrients than others; whereas others are high in sugar and saturated fat.

4  Keep a Food Diary

Before you begin, take stock of your diet!

Write down everything you consume for several days. By doing this, you can analyze your diet and locate the areas of improvement.

Some mobile apps can simplify this assessment and Foodvisor  is one of them! With Foodvisor you only have to take pictures of your meals thus tracking your diet becomes simple. It will even provide a nutritional analysis based on the content of the image! 😉
